Our Story

While Purely Pearls is proudly Canadian owned and operated, the business was born when founder, Jill Spinks was living with her family overseas. The inspiration for the company came while she wandered the markets in Asia in 2005. Admiring and appreciating the huge array of shapes, colours, and sizes of the pearls available, Jill dreamed of creating a company dedicated solely to these organic gems.

Jill completed the Pearl Graduate program with the Gemological Institute of America in 2006 and went on to work with other talented expat women and gifted artisans to create modern designs and grow the business. She has attended countless industry events and conferences in the Middle East, Asia, and North America.

The goal of the company became to celebrate the organic beauty and uniqueness of cultured freshwater pearls while creating pieces of jewelry relevant with current fashion trends. Our vision is to create a versatile collection of modern classic pearl jewellery appealing to women across generations and around the globe. A statement strand of baroque shaped pearls continues to be one of Jill’s personal favourites and her go-to necklace.
